Updates from 3/17 workshop meeting and 3/20 Town Board meeting
On 3/17 the Town Board welcomed Choice Words to do a grant presentation about grant writing. It was a very informative presentation and touched on most of our wish list to do items such as a new town hall, wastewater, downtown revitalization and others. The next step is the Town Board will get together and make a list of items and prioritize them in order and decide the amount of time needed on these items and then possibly acquire their services.
On 3/20 the Town Board held our March regular monthly meeting. A public hearing was held for feedback about our tax exemption law for ADU’s. The law was then voted on and pasted. The highway dept. reported they have started their spring cleanup with sweeping the roads and cleaning up stones from the roadway.
In the Building Inspectors report he has issued 4 building permits for the month of February.
In the Water Dept. report 1 meter head was replaced and 1 meter head was rebuilt. 3 utility mark outs were performed.
In the Police Dept. report 29 shifts were scheduled and covered.
In the Animal Control report 3 calls were answered and 4 citations for court issued.
In Recreation news basketball season ended with great success and we are moving into baseball and softball season to date we have 125 kids signed up which is strong numbers this early. March 29th will be field cleanup day volunteer turnout is needed. Beach operations are on their way already. Also, discussion on a fence for adult swimmers at the beach was brought up to separate them from the beach itself. This was presented as an access on the right-hand side about 10 feet wide and also can be utilized for kayaks. Recreation Director was advised to get some prices from a fencing company and present at Aprils board meeting.
The Beautification Committee presented their mission statement to the Town Board and will be placed on the town website.
In Old Business the Town Board was presented some changes to the Labella contract for services to the new Town Hall if accepted by Labella the contract will be signed, and we can continue with our design phase.
In New Business the following approvals where made: Megan Brenner for Camp Director, Sara Nannetti for Assistant Camp Director, Jen Blackburn for Beach Director, and Ruth Cohn to the Library Board.

A Thank You to George Keeler for going above and beyond to drive around and record all the telephone poles that are in violation of our new Town utility pole law.
A Thank You Jim Boyles for the great job done on the new planters in front of the clock tower.
Spring Cleanup will be May 17th at the Highway Garage from 8am -11am a list will be posted with what is accepted and the cost.
The Triathlon will take place on June 22nd this year everyone be aware of road delays and closures.
Just to remind everyone we are still in a burn ban please do not burn. With the high winds it creates a great risk of making a small fire into a larger one very quickly.
As you can see the Town is very busy heading into the spring season.
